American Civil War History

Crosses State Lines

The Civil War Heritage Trails travel across state borders on multiple historic driving routes throughout Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina. Each trail, upon the installation of dozens of informative interpretive markers at Civil War  sites and hundreds of colorful roadway “trailblazer” signs, follows the historic route of one of the American Civil War’s major military campaigns or other important events.  More than a dozen new driving trails will soon “link” together the entire history of the Civil War era throughout Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina; not only their battlefields but also their cultural, social and political history.

Information can be obtained throughout our website about colorful brochures, downloadable maps, videos, music, and Civil War era events, plus connections to our Facebook, Twitter and blog pages. Links to hundreds of affiliated websites provide additional information about many related historic attractions.  Drive the Civil War Heritage Trails through Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina, and experience where historic footsteps were taken.
